1 year anniversary, the future and the past

Written by WinterStorm at 15:55 15/12-2012

Team WinterStorm celebrated his 1 year anniversary in quietness. The team just made their comeback and was dropped from division 5 to division 10 because the team has been inactive and got their last points at the beginning of season 21.

  The Past
So how are old teammates doing? After starting the game and scouting the available cyclist, manager Joris Winter decided to race 1 races with Thorwald Blumentritt as captain. Blumentritt won and teammates came in 2nd, 4th and 6th. After that Blumentritt raced only once more for WinterStorm, helping new homegrown captain Pauwel Langeveld to an 11th place.
Blumentritt was released and got a 3rd and 8th place in classics. But the biggest result of his career was a win in a division 1 race fur Ursus RT. Beating skilled riders breaking away from the peloton early stage on his own, soloing to the win!!! Blumentritt peaked only once more, winning a division 9 race.
Pauwel Langeveld was chosen as first captain of the team. He started training end of season 18, racing two times as a teammate and was appointed captain of the team in season 19. Racing 18 times for the team, getting 8 results, 3 wins, 1 second place and 4 third places. Finishing not lower than an 11th place the whole season, claiming 590th spot on the ranking.
The next season the team focused more on hill races cause the competition in climbing races was strong and sign ups where full. Langeveld got 2 results in climbing race as captain and a 7th and 15th place in hill races supporting new captain Jacques Looze. Because Looze his training had to be paid, Langeveld was dismissed from the team but got picked up by division 1 Team Revolutie. The glory days of being a captain were over, the team didn’t win a race when Langeveld participated, after the deception of season 21, he left to join CK Hymer. Supporting the team resulted in his captain winning 1 race.
Looze was trained during season 19 while Langeveld was winning races and paying for the younger Looze his training. Looze learned a lot during season 19 and at the end of the season he got his best results, 2 fourth places. Season 20 Looze would start most races as captain. Looze ended season 20 for WinterStorm with 1 win in a division 5 race, 3 second places and 3 third places, finishing not lower than 5th place as a captain and a 19th place as a teammate helping Langeveld getting a 2nd place in a climbing race.
During the season manager Joris Winter spotted Ludger Vonk a young talent and for sale. Pete from peddelen was also interested as he thought Vonk could be the new Dussel. Risks where taken, Looze was sold so a bid could be made and there would be some money for training. But Vonk became too expensive and second choice Philip Plagge was signed. Looze sold to POM Wonderful who wanted to focus more on hill race and signed him in for Fast on Wheels #1. Looze didn’t get any results and the rest of season was disappointing, only 2 races in season 21 and Looze left the team. Season 20 at WinterStorm was the best time of Looze his career, ending season 20 at rank 423.
Looze was out and Plagge joined. The training of Plagge started, Vonk had good potentials in SP, FR and TQ, Plagge had good potentials in HL, SP, FR and average in TQ. Training began but shortly after the team had no money left and teammates where failing to score results. Manager Joris Winter would resign from his position, but the talent of Plagge could not be wasted. So Plagge was sold to ultrajactum, manager Pees Criem thought he just bought a teammate, not knowing Plagge stil had much potential in him. After a conversation between Joris Winter and Pees Criem, Pees started training Plagge and made him captain. Plagge won 3 races for WinterStorm and 3 races in for ultrajectum in div2/3. Ending season 21 in 185th place. Season 22 is an even better season for Plagge. Maxing at 55 AV he has become a top rider and made his first appearance for the national team of The Netherlands. Being captain in two races for the national team finishing in 4th and 5th place. Plagge currently is ranked 6th of The Netherlands and 44th of The World.
All captains had or have great careers and manage to do good, except for the partially trained Plagge all captains scored better at WinterStorm. So the team will try to bring forward new talents and get to the higher divisions.

  The Future
Manager Joris Winter decided to score some easy points by buying time trialist Jaap Maaskant. Maaskant won 3 ITT’s and was released so the team could buy Jesper Juhl a time trialist with 40 results. Juhl was a cheap buy, at 185k, only having a 3k premium which would mean getting 1 result and he paid for himself. After getting to higher divisions new plans have to be made.

I am back and you will notice!
